With the order for a 787-8 VIP aircraft, the number of Boeing commercial aircraft delivered this year has risen to eight. Early this week, Boeing Commercial Jet launched seven new orders, among them six BMJs and one 787 VIP. This new order brought the number of VIP aircraft ordered directly from Boeing to seven 787.
GENEVA, May 22, 2007 -- Boeing[NYSE: BA] announced today that it has been awarded an order for a 787 VIP aircraft by Hong Kong property magnate Joseph Lau. With the order for a 787-8 VIP aircraft, the number of Boeing commercial aircraft delivered this year has risen to eight.
Early this week, Boeing Commercial Aircraft reported that it had received seven new orders, six of which were a BBJ and one a 787 VIP. This new order brings the number of VIP aircraft ordered directly from Boeing to seven 787. "787 VIP is an exceptionally appealing aircraft for affluent and prosperous businessmen, especially in Asia, where long distance transactions are made.
Boeing 787 has everything - long-range capabilities, progressive technologies and a roomy, convenient cab - features that are needed to run businesses around the world," said Boeing President Steven Hill. Specifically, the BBJ, BBJ 2 and BBJ 3, high-performance derivates of the commercial Next-Generation 737 aircraft as well as Boeing 787 s, 747-8s, 777s and 767s are all part of the BBJ series.
