The best pyjamas on the airline: Emirates, Air France, Cathay, Virgin, Virgin

Pyjamas of the air carriers are one of the undervalued luxury passenger. Getting into an airplane, out of those design clothes and into a brand pyjama is like saying to the airplane and the whole wide globe that you should be up there. Although Virgin Atlantic no longer has a restricted circulation (they now provide more off-the-shelf sets), many other carriers provide their first and second class customers with classy sky comforts.

Today, Air France's First Division La Première is one of the most luxurious cabin in the sky. But if you can get it to go, prepare for delicacies like Daniel Boulud's multi-course menu... and pyjamas from the renowned Givenchy name. Pyjamas are single-sex and come in full colour in dark with a neckband similar to a haenley, all presented in a bag of felt and cowhide that you can take out of the airplane.

Compressed by Delta and United and airlines around the world, American has increased its play in recent years with new seating in top flight classes and high-end features such as the pyjamas it provides on some destinations, particularly Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia.

Cutting-edge pyjamas are made of premium quality grey coloured grey top with a marine V-neck and the airline's ear tag and bright blued cord trousers. In 2013, Cathay joined forces with another Hong Kong PYE franchise to provide its premium customers with 100% bio virgin pyjamas for long distance Asia Pacific travel.

PYE, which specialises in high-end styling, designed an individual fit for the airlines on the basis of a Mao garment, featuring a Mandarin neck and accented border. There are six colours of pyjama as you would in Hong Kong, among them grey, dark brown and chestnut, but it changes every few months. We also treat our guests with appropriate eyeskits and slippers.

Actually, this US carrier does not have a first-class cab on most intercontinental routes. Instead, it has labeled its cosmopolitan Bus Division as Delta One, and you get some chic conveniences just like you would have done in another airline's First Division, such as TUMI convenience kit with Kiehl items and Westin Heavenly beds for these reclining flax seat.

We also offer two-tone grey threshold wetsuits on certain trans-Pacific services from the USA to China and Australia. For a long time now, Omirates has been a trend-setter when it comes to premium comfort, launching closed-door suite and even shower facilities on board its A380s. Only because the airlines make big movements does not mean that they neglect the small touch.

This is why last year Emirates launched a first-class moisturising pyjama. One might think that Etihad, with great love for detail, has furnished his first-class staterooms - those are the aircraft with "apartments" and a three-room living room on board - in such a way that they would think more about their pyjamas. By the way, people who fly in our Businessclass get pyjamas too, but they have rather dark shades of dew and amber.

The JAL has one of the most elegant first-class cabins, thanks to the beautiful suite and the incomparable on-board services. With the introduction of first-class equipment packages and completely new limited-edition pyjama kits from Porsche Design, the carrier expanded its range at the beginning of the year. The Korean Air cabin crew uniform was developed in cooperation with the Italien Gianfranco Ferre, as well as the grey-green pyjama, which the company provides to first-class customers.

Lufthansa, which won the prize for the best nightwear on board, is offering its customers in its stunning top-quality cabin suits from the traditional Van Laack Group. They do something interesting by storing top and bottom pages seperately, so you can often blend and adjust them. Whatever combination you get, the top is probably a long sleeved sweatshirt, a trendy neck and everything, while the pants are made of a very lightweight piece of fabric so you keep cool when you're in your cot.

Although Qantas does offer some sports pyjamas in Executive Level - a rare feature among today' carriers - it is the premium version that really sets this Australia carrier apart. This pyjama was developed by Australia based couturier Martin Grant, who also developed the airline's flight uniform and is the first nightwear he's ever brought out.

Made of 100% pure organic cotton, the PJs are plain marine blu with a dark trimming and have a rejuvenated look as some of the waving pyjamas you'll find in the airplane. Quatar could currently be under an aerial barricade by its immediate neighbours, but that does not mean that the national airline is saving on the comforts for its prime aircraft.

Recently, the carrier signed a new three-year alliance with The White Company to deliver pyjamas to its first and next-class passengers. Pyjamas in the first category are darkgrey for men and light-grey for women. Fitting pieces of slipper with synthetic sole are supplied with the suit.

The pyjamas are initially only available on the airline's Airbus 380 services, which cover Doha to Paris, London, Sydney and Bangkok, but should soon be available on other services. It is no wonder that the country's domestic carrier has hired them to make not only the bed linen for its first-class staterooms, but also the pyjamas made of organically grown wool for the air travelers in them.

United, like many other carriers, is discontinuing First Division on intercontinental services as it introduces new Polaris Bus Division seating and convenience throughout its entire family. Fortunately, this just means that travelers receive some amazing benefits like Saks Fifth Avenue bed linen and Soho House cowshed spa comforts.

Upon your demand, they can also be supplied with sweet pyjamas made of soft organic cotton, so don't forgot to ask when you will be boarding! The other large Australian carrier contracted the Project Runway Australia winning company, Juli Grbac, to create its new uniform in 2011, and since then it has carried out several upgrades for the carrier. It was also responsible for the development of elegant passenger pyjamas in The Trans-Pacific Passenger Theatre, the airline's flag ship stateroom.
