After Southwest Airlines acquired AirTran Airways, AirTran Airways was an U.S. low-cost carrier based in Orlando, Florida, and later in Dallas, Texas, into which it was incorporated. The AirTran Airways network served nearly 700 day trips, mainly to the east and midwest of the United States, with the main hubs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where it performed nearly 200 day-trips.
AirTran's portfolio included Boeing 717-200s, of which it was the world's biggest carrier, and Boeing 737-700s. On 28 December 2014, it was fully incorporated into Southwest Airlines. The major AirTran Airways serving towns were Atlanta, Orlando, Baltimore-Washington, Milwaukee, Ft. Myers, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Washington, Pittsburgh, Akron-Canton, Hartford and Boston.
The AirTran Airways aircraft fleets consisted of B717 and B737. At AirTran Airways we ran a two-class business and economy aircraft arrangement. While AirTran Airways did not take part in large scale international airlines but had a code share arrangement with its mother company, Southwest Airlines, the company was not a member of any large airlines. South West Airlines serves many cities, such as Chicago, Baltimore, Washington, Midway, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, Phoneix, Houston, Orlando, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Arizona, Oranjestad, Nassau, Belize City, Liberia, San Jose, Punta Cana, Mexico City and many more.

The Southwest Airlines large aircraft portfolio includes Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737, Boeing 737, Boeing 737, Boeing 737 and Boeing 737-800. Southwest Airlines finalized the purchase of AirTran Airways on May 2, 2011 by acquiring all remaining ordinary shares, as well as the company's goodwill and business assets, from AirTran Holdings, Inc.
the former holding of AirTran Airways. South West Airlines first disclosed the transaction on September 27, 2010 and obtained definitive U.S. Department of Justice clearance on April 27, 2011. Following the takeover of AirTran Airways, Southwest signed a code share contract with AirTran on 14 February 2013. AirTran was fully incorporated into the Southwest on 28 December 2014 and the arrangement ended.
