All Types of Angle Pairs

Every type of angle pair

Remember that all pairs of vertical angles are congruent. Use this information to find the measurement of all other angles. The angles F and B in the figure above form one of the pairs. The corresponding angles are congruent if the two lines are parallel. Take measurements of each angle and classify it according to its size.

Components - Classification angle

When you look around, you'll see corners everywhere. Corners are expressed in degree. One can imagine a right angle as a quarter of a 360° dividing by 4, or 90Â °. Right angle is the most frequent angle - the corners of your diary, stairs, doors, photo frames - all these make right angle.

Let's look at some other kinds of corners. An even angle corresponds to half a circle. That' s all. 360° split by 2 corresponds to 180°â, which is the measurement of a perpendicular angle. Any angle measuring less than 90Â is an angle. A blunt angle is more than 90°, but less than 180°.

By looking at them and making mental comparisons with those known to us, such as the right angle, we can appreciate angular measurements. How do we accurately determine angle? A useful instrument known as a goniometer, every geometric pupil should have one! Can be used to take measurements of angle as well as to plot angle.

In order to use a goniometer, place the arrows on the apex of the angle to be measured and display the reading on the graduation in degree. There are two corners that have the same dimension and are referred to as matching corners. There are two corners here that both measured 30°. Let us say that angle x is the same as angle y. Let us now look at some pairs of angle.

The two corners are designated as additional when their dimensions on 180° are added. Both these 90° angle are additional, since 90 + 90 = 180. Additional corners don't have to meet, don't have to be in the same level or even be in the same room! Couple of corners is considered complimentary when their readings total 90°.

Those two angels are complimentary, because 60 + 30 = 90.
