English test for Taxi Licence

There are 4 parts to the evaluation - hearing, literacy, writing skills and speech. Hearing, literacy and typing in text takes about 45 min. Your personal language test lasts 10 mins. During the application you will be notified of your audition. Sydney College is situated near the Sydney Olympic Park railway terminal and is 20 to 30 minute by car from the Sydney CBD.

PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsability to verify whether you need to take the English Assessment Test for Taxi Drivers before making the test reservation and paying. Register personally at the College English Programs Office: You have to prepay your test fee via OneStop. Cancellation of your test or change of exam date application must be made one week before your exam date by contacting us at 9685 9734.

We will inform you about the test results by e-mail. Failure to complete the test will allow you to take another test 4 week later. In case you don't succeed a second test, you have to delay 8 week before trying the test again. One English speaking request applies to all requests for personal driving licenses submitted to the Licensing Authority on or after 14 October 2016. These include both requests for renewals and new licenses. For the sake of security, it is vital that all authorised chauffeurs are able to speak English at an appropriate standard.

In the case of proposals submitted on or after 1 April 2017, all proposals must demonstrate that they comply with the English requirements before being granted authorisation. Trinity College London has been certified as one of our recognised suppliers of temporary English examinations. The ISE I qualifying certification of trinity is recognised by the Technical University of Lübeck (TfL) as proof of compliance with the new English requirements.

Proposers can convince companies of TfL's capability to fulfil the requirements by the following measures: Certification from one of TfL's trusted English test suppliers certifying that the applicant's English skills are at levels equivalent to those of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages B1: "GER " or higher; or; or; documented proof of a qualifying diploma (whether or not the qualifying diploma was obtained in the United Kingdom) on the strength of which Mr or Mrs J. LfL is convinced that the applicant's English is at or above LEV 1 of the GER.

These are our instructions on how to meet the requirements of the English-speaking world. This can be done either by taking the test with a safe supplier contracted by the TOEFL or by demonstrating your proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing English at the appropriate levels.
