Dr. The Cleveland International Airports, formerly known as Cleveland Municipal, changed its name to Cleveland-Hopkins International Airports on July 26, 1951 to mark the birth of WILLIAM R. November 15, 1968 saw the start of the S-Bahn connection to the aerodrome. Consequently, United Airlines, which once dominated Hopkins, cut its 110 day trips from Cleveland in 1979 to just 13 in 1988.

In the 80s and early 90s, Hopkins recorded an expansion in the number of passengers due to an enhanced regional economic environment and the airport's capacity to respond quickly to airline needs. Meanwhile, both Continental and USAir have expanded their airports, with Continental using the same as one of their domestic hub airports.

By 1995, in the hope that Cleveland Hopkins Intl. would become an important global airline hubs for the country's main carriers, development planning for the extension of the airport's taxiway was well advanced to take account of the possible growth in aviation.
