Flight journeys - What is the opposite of a "return flight"?
I' d call it the "outbound." Incidentally, I'm not sure if "return flight" is clear. On some occasions (e.g. when you book a ticket) it could simply be seen as a return flight combo. Obviously, "outbound" and "inbound" are also somewhat equivocal - they could relate to stages leading to or from an airport hubs, but this is more from the point of view of operational and timetable planners than from the point of view of travellers.
Aviation uses the word "Originating Flight" for the first flight of a route. That could be Britisch, but the first thing that came to my head was "outgoing flight". Departure and return flight are concepts that make good business sense for me. My observation is that this is similar to the user 68196's response to the "origin flight" - the notion is that a return flight can relate to a combined of two trips to take you away and then bring you back to your initial position - so different concepts must be used.
