Whilst mileage is less agile than certain points on your major debit/credit cards, there are still good ways to use it. Learn how to reserve travel with your points and mileage. Like any other travel website, such as Expedia or Priceline, these websites work with one difference: Whilst Chase points are always valued at $0.01 if you exchange them for cashback or vouchers, you can get a better value for traveling. Chase travel offers you the opportunity to make a reservation and make a point payment via the Chase travel website and receive a loyalty award instead of being charged to your debit side, based on which you have.

When you have the Sapphire Preferred (or certain small calling card like the Ink Preferred ), you get a 25% extra on points used for travel - in other words, these points are always valued at $0. 0125, so 50,000 points are valued at $625. The Sapphire Reserve gives you a 50% travel purchase incentive, so the same 50,000 points are $750 or more.

Bookings are simple and work just like any other travel portal. Prizes are shown in both points and currency (points differ depending on which cards you have). When you pay for a map such as the Gold Delta SkyMiles of American Express or the United Explorer of Chase map, you collect frequently traveller mileage instead of points. Although mileage can be much more rewarding than points, it is also more difficult to score. The transfer of your Chase or Amex points to a Frequent Flyer Programme or Hoteltreueprogramm is usually the most profitable use of the points.

Be sure to always check premium prices against the rate when booking through a travel agency's travel site to make sure you get the best rate. British Airways, for example, levies a fee of more than $1,000 if you use the airline's airline points to travel a London to U.S. air ticket, so it might be better for you to find another way to do so.

Generally, the most profitable way to use portable points is to turn them into airline mileage and use them to make reservations.
