Airport taxi rate: 30 ? - Madrid Forum

Last Wednesday night we reached Madrid airport at about 19:00. So we went to the taxi stand and quickly and simply took a taxi... there were a lot of them. Before the arrival we verified that the lump sum of 30 Euro was right and we were informed yes. Actually the counter in the taxi was 30 Euro and never completely change to our hotel.........which was on the Plaza Santa Ana atw.

Arriving after we had reached a small amount of central congestion (hardly anything really....hardly got much travel time), my husband gave the chauffeur 35 Euro and the chauffeur told us that the costs are now 40 Euro! At that point we were exhausted and did not fight, but we were NOT lucky!

When we returned we took a taxi to the Plaza Santa Ana, rechecked the fare and this once we WILL be invoiced 30 Euros.........so this once the chauffeur got his tip........and he was very grateful!
