of Alaska Airlines, Inc., an Alaska Corp. was established in 1932. Until about 1942 the carrier was known as "Alaska Star Airlines". Its present name - Alaska Airlines - was given to it in 1944. The Alaska Air Group was established in 1985 as a hold for Alaska Airlines. The Alaska Air Group purchased Horizon Air in 1986 and Jet America Airlines and Alaska Airlines joined forces in 1987.
The Alaska Airlines Hold Holdagg Baggage Directive allows hold bags with a total of 23 kg (per bag) and a max. size of 62 inch (length + width + height). A surcharge will be applied for items exceeding these measurements and weights. Alaska Airlines allows carry-on bags with a size of 25 cm x 43 cm x 61 cm according to the Alaska Airlines carry-on regulations.
