Austin is the city that sets the tariffs for taxis.

Austin is the capital of the Austin taxis. All taxi operators and driver are subject to these tariffs. Actual metre prices are $2.50 for the first 1/6 miles plus $0.40 for each subsequent 1/6 miles. There is a statutory travel pass for travel originating from Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).

It' adjusted to the value of a 4-mile journey (currently $13.10). Also, according to the Municipal Code, travel from the airports is charged a $1 supplement. We do not charge a supplement for supplemental use. Up to four people can travel for the fare of one person.

A Cabcharge Account - Clients can establish a line of credit from Cabcharge for the cost of paying Cab tariffs and related fees, including the use of a Cabcharge bank account balance, e-ticket or hard copy receipt. In 2007/08, the value of taxis purchased with such tools in Australia amounted to USD 455,307,773. Cab charge will charge a 10% handling charge on such transactions. Cab charge settlement system - Driver can manually or electronic handle cabcharge and other cashless transactions (e.g. loan and charge cards).

At Cabcharge, we do not charge driver, owner or network fees for the supply of devices for the payments system, but instead charge our customers a 10% handling charge. Networking, a provision is payable from the servicing charge. Although Cabcharge names a general purpose charge for services to the general community and regulators, it is generally termed a supplement and has led to disputes, lawsuits and state interference.

Convergence's business operations were at one point disputed and Cabcharge Australia was regularly accused of exorbitant fees or greed and of robbery and anti-competitive practice. Up to now, the firm has levied a 10% supplement on taxis for the use of its payments system, but justified the supplement on the grounds that it incurred the cost of operations such as producing cards and other products, in-taxi handling, management, fraud prevention and detection, providing explanations and training drivers.

4 ] The firm is also accused of greed for profit because of the 10% premium on taxis charged by means of a credit note and the case is currently being examined by the Reserve Bank of Australia. 5 ] The award in Victoria was lowered to 5% due to the recommendation of the Taxicab Industry Inquiry, and a further check of the award in this state may result in the value being well below 5%.

In a recent review, the study of the taxi industry, led by Professor Fels, has expressed a number of important points of criticism of Cabcharge and its work.
