These are the airline companies we found that offer even older fares: Priority tariffs are reserved for travellers aged 60 and over, but only within France. Retirement fare is available on some home departures for retired people aged 65 and over. With the AARP, British Airways is working with AARP to offer up to $400 in discounts on certain AARP member services until 31 October 2015.

While Delta provides special discount on certain routes for seniors, they are not available on-line, so travellers should call 1-800-221-1212 to verify entitlement. Reduced rates are available for people aged 65 and over and must be reserved by telephone. More information on tariffs and restrictions is available at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792). In addition, seniors' tariffs can also be reimbursed in full in the southwest.

In certain countries United provides retirement rebates. Please contact United reservation at 1-800-241-6522 to find out if a specific trip is eligible for a discount for seniors. Most of the airlines' standard discount tariffs are lower than those for seniors. When you can't find a discount for seniors, there are still ways to find a cheap fare: register for our air and trip newsletter and dealer notifications.

As an example, the saving can often be significant if you are willing to spend a Tuesday rather than a Friday night travelling. Whilst older air fare plans sometimes charge more than the airline's pure on-line offers, there may be benefits in purchasing these reduced fare ticketing options. Seniors may not be as restricted as other ticket types and can sometimes be used to make last-minute itineraries.
