As you may have already guess, the mystery is that Garmin created the G5 as part of its line of products for aviators. It can be used to replace the factory-installed electro-mechanical device in hundred of model aircrafts among a multitude of aircrafts. A part of the G5's magical feature is that Garmin engineered it to be mounted in a certificated plane by a dealer - in this case without DYI'ers - within an hours or less.

As there is no need for a pane cut, the technology could easily take off the old instruments and connect and unbutton the new ones. Garmin G5 is a multifunctional device, but its certified state is, to say the least, uncommon.

While Dynon has not yet started supplying the products, AirVenture has indicated that the STC, to be marketed by the EAA at "nominal cost", will be available shortly.
