TLC now issues a unique driver's license for both taxi and FHV riders. Every Medaillon and FHV driver's license has been upgraded to this new combination license, which allows these riders to drive taxi cars, paint shops and Street Hail Label (SHL) cars. Actual TLC license holders with locket, FHV or MED-FHV driving licence do not have to purchase a new driving licence in order to run another taxi or FHV car.
Currently, all licences are expiring. The Paratransit and commuting driver is not covered by the TLC licence and must continue to obtain and obtain a licence specifically for the use of these cars.
