Cab numbers JuneauTaxi ride in Juneau to the Mendenhall Glacier
I tried to organize some taxis for my 9-person Juneau familiy and received some contradictory information from the taxi operator about the charges levied by the US Forest Service on Mendenhall Glacier. As far as I know from the USFS website, the car park is free of charge, so the taxi should not be billed for setting down or collecting.
The taxi service, however, says: "The $2.00 per USFS passenger charge is levied on entry for all who attend Mendenhall Glacier from 0-100 years. I' ve been leaving a note for the parking attendant, awaiting feedback. Meanwhile, I wanted to ask other cruise ships about their experiences by taxi to Mendenhall Glacier.
You can also pay for any Bundeslandpass, so if Gramps or Grams has a Seniors Career Card, you can get on for free. Someone in your 62+ group should get a $10 Nationalpark passport before they come to Alaska. It'?s good at the SE Alaska Discovery Centre in Ketchikan, Mendenhall Visitors Centre, bringing you $10 back from your Denali coach tour, etc.
In the past, I know that there have been charges of a comercial nature, so that could be correct. That two cabs I used are Capital and Evergreen. Charges may be associated with a larger car that the business charges. In the past, I know that there have been charges of a comercial nature, so that could be correct.

Perhaps, when I get back from the Parkranger, they can check if there is a service charges that they bill for utility cars in excess of what is on their website.

Similarly, I got an e-mail from Evergreen. Evergreen also wanted to collect us at the harbor at 7:30 am and then collect us again at 9:30 am. Evergreen also wanted to collect us at the harbor at 7:30 am and then collect us again at 9:30 am.
I' m comforted that I wasn't the only one who ever tell Evergreen about the charge. While I haven't yet listened to the parking man, I will continue and publish what they say in the morning. Last and last times we went to Mendenhall Glacier, we walked (I use this word loosely) to the Nugget Falls...in the rain...with a pram & unwilling preschool buggy and we spend almost 2 hrs in all in the parc.
Hopefully, if the wheather was better, we would have probably spend more hours there exploring the visitors centre and other paths. My guess is how much track you need will depend on which trail you take, how quickly you are planning to walk/hike or whether you need to spend your free hours at the visitors centre. While I haven't yet listened to the parking man, I will continue and publish what they say in the morning. She talked to Jesse from the parc and upheld the $2/pp charge that the taxis have to charge is separated from the $5/pp per diem charge on her website. $2/pp is a licensing charge levied on all business owners who bring guests into the grounds.
Therefore they are collecting these charges seperately. When you have the Senior or Season pass, you need your ticket to show the taxi rider. Passport will only cover the per diem charge indicated on the website. Hopefully this will help clear up how the charges are calculated.
So what happens if I just need a cab to come get us when we're done? So what happens if I just need a cab to come get us when we're done? I suppose they will come to the car park to collect you, but I would get in touch directly with the cab operator to verify.
It will be checked whether there are commercially available charges, as I said in my previous contribution. There is no taxi line in Mendenhall and taxis have to be used. They could hunt for a taxi to drop off, I guess, but I would expect the charge for picking up to be levied.
I' d be sure to ask for a pickup without making a call.
