ill lear: That man behind Learjet

As the Learjet celebrates its 50-year jubilee in October 2013, it is definitely a good idea to remember Bill Lear, the man who invented the plane. Well, William (Bill) Lear was an astonishing man. His greatest accomplishment is probably the Learjet. Failing that, he went to Wichita in Kansas and started the Learjet 23.

The Learjet was a great hit despite the first FAA certified test plane crash, but the business had genuine cash flow issues and in 1967 divested its interest to Gates Rubber Corporation. Bombardier bought Learjet in 1990. I mean, Lear was definitely a person. When you want evidence of this, you just have to recall that he named one of seven kids Chanda (so she was Chanda Lear like a chandelier).

Lear had never been afraid to make a testimony instead of write about him, here is Lear in his own words. "I first decided to earn enough so that I would never be prevented from accomplishing anything. Secondly, in order to raise funds quickly - and I was in a rush - I would have to make up something they wanted, and thirdly, if I ever stood on my own two feet, I would have to get out of the house.
