Collective taxi is a means of transportation that lies between a taxi and a coach. Frequently found in developping countries,[1] share taxi models vary from four-seater to minibus. UITP's concept of "informal transport" also covers share taxes. Elsewhere, there may be no official endpoints, but taxi's that just gather in a single place[5].
Wherever they are available, shared taxis offer the services on defined itineraries within and sometimes also between cities. Once a collective taxi has collected guests at its terminal station, it continues on a semi-solid line where the rider can choose the real itinerary within an area depending on the situation. Whilst all stock taxes have certain features - and many local tax jurisdictions have special features - some fundamental operating differences can be illustrated.
Sharing Taxi is a one of a kind means of transportation, regardless of the car used. Minibuses,[11] midibuses, roofed pick-up vehicles, estate cars and heavy goods vehicles are used as share taxis. 3. The Sharing taxi carries different name and is characterized by local characteristics, but is in many places of the globe daily part of their lives. The Angkutan Kota or Angkot or Mikrolet are share cabs in Indonesia that are usually operated with minivans throughout the state.
Taxi service in some cities of Northern Ireland, especially in some Ballymena, Belfast, Derry and Newry counties, is operated with Hackney coaches and is referred to as darking. Taxicollectives are strongly associated with policy groups - those active in areas of Catholicism with Sinn Féin, those in areas of Protestantism with loyaltyist para-militaries and their policy wing.
The frequency of servicing is generally higher than for buses, especially at peaks, although it may be hard to find a taxi with available seating during busy periods due to capacity constraints for those travelling near terminal stops. There are three major vehicles used as brush cabs (French Taxibrousse, Mandinka and Mandinka tanks ): the estate car, the mini van and the truck.
Most bus cabs for estate cars were changed in the 1980s in the past - the Peugeot 504s version. Sometimes, especially on less busy lines, bus cabs are more congested and travellers can even be sitting on the rooftop or in the trunk. bush taxi in more affluent nations are usually less overcrowded. In Nigeria, for example, bus taxis are triangular or quadrangular (both estate and minibus) depending on the number of persons sitting in each series.
HGVs are also used as Buschtaxis (French Bâché): they are ordinary HGVs with seats on the sides of the passenger-beds. Danish share taxi and minibus are an icon of transportation in Lagos, Nigeria. A Jitney is an American-English word that refers to a rental car between a taxi and a coach.
Many US towns (e.g. Pittsburgh and Detroit) use the word jetney to refer to an illegal taxi. Shares in Lithuania are referred to as MARSRUTINIS CASSI. Egypt's share booths are commonly known as microbuses (mekrobass ma?ar?? or ma?r?? mekrobass?t, "project"; plural ????? ???????? http: or mekrobass?t ??????). A share taxi in Iran is usually referred to as a "taxi", while a non-share taxi in Iran is usually referred to as an "ajans"/?????, pronounced[a?ans].
Sometimes there is no end stop and they are waiting on the side of the road and pass their destinations on to all the taxis until one of them pulls up. They are normal taxis, but if someone wants to take a non-share taxi, they can call an Ayans (taxi service) for themselves or waiting on the side of the road and say 'DARBAST' (which means they don't share).
This means that he is not interested in dividing the taxi and is therefore willing to buy more for the price of the deed. Mini bus cabs in Ethiopia are one of the most important means of transportation in large towns like Addis Ababa. At present, the government of Africa is trying to formalise and re-regulate the out-of-control mini-bus taxi-business. Those new mini bus cabs bear the southern austrian flags and are much more roomy and safer.
Citybuses (Chinese: ??????), also known as minibuses or maxicabs (Chinese: ??), travel through Hong Kong, through areas that the usual coach routes cannot or do not want to get to so often, quickly or directly. Minibuses are available in two different models with street lighting, either blue or white. They both have a cream-coloured exterior bodyshell, with the color of the outer canopy and the nature of the services, which indicates the color from which they differ: Greens are like a scheduled coach with a set number, itinerary, timetable and fares (but generally no set stops); reds are collective taxis that travel irregularly on a semi-regular itinerary, with the rider awaiting enough occupants to warrant departure, as their earnings depend on that.
New Zealand's first widely used automotive servicing activities were collective taxi cabs, designated as servicing vehicles; a major former supplier was Aard, which used extended Hudson Super Six buses. 73 ] Collective cabs in New Zealand are today called shuttles or shuttle-vehicles ( see below ). In Mumbai, India, there have been collective taxi cabs since the beginning of the 70s - and they are known under exactly this name.
They are more like a point-to-point facility that only runs at rush hour than other stock taxi services. In the off-season, they run just like ordinary taxi services; they can be called anywhere on the road and customers are billed by the metre. However, during rush hour, several of them are used as collective taxi services, bringing a full cabin cargo of passenger to a more or less joint target.
Pickup points for these taxi's are fixated and identified by a plate "Sammeltaxis", where the taxi's line up at rush hour. Delivery vans[77][78][79], which act as collective taxi services in Israel, can also be collected from sheruth wards. In the West Bank, Palestinians call delivery trucks "Servees" (service taxis), while in the territories of Palestine the Ford Transit car was used for some time,[82] therefore the terms "Ford" and "Fordat"(pl) are used to describe various makes of small buses that have substituted for ageing Mercedes limousines,[78] etc., which have been widely used so far.
Common busses or delivery trucks are available in many more advanced nations that connect common routes and charge a flat rate per person. Much of the comfort of a taxi, although it takes longer, at a much lower cost for one or two people. Literal "two rows"[quotation required] a Sonthaew or Sonth Thaew[84] (Thai ??????, Lao: ??????[s????t?íw]) is a car in Thailand[84] and Laos[85] that is taken over by a pickup[85] or a bigger lorry and used as a share taxi.
Water faucets, colorfully lacquered buses[86][87] or pick-up trucks[87] and mostly older limousines [88] served as shared taxi services in Haiti. Common taxi itineraries in Mexico are often ad hoc agreements to fill loopholes in urban transport, and many run both urban and suburban itineraries. Highly frequented share taxi lanes often develop into controlled micro bus lines of urban transport, as they have appeared in Mexico-Stadt and Lima.
Since 2008, there is no longer an independant transportation agency in Accra, Ghana,[26] and the share taxi industy may be completely non-regulated. Athens, Greece, was where most taxi shares were,[119] but since the accession of the nation to the EU this custom began to vanish. At Saint Lucia Wegchehs are a name for Toyota HiAce minibuses.
Advanced paratransit operations, also known in the United Kingdom as on-demand traffic management solutions, can offer joint operations in circumstances where liner operations are not profitable. Today, some newer taxi taxis use web and cellular communication for reservation and dispatching reasons, whereby the real taxi system is offered with standard carriages or privat cars.
A number of airports and hotels around the globe provide shuttles between airports and hotels, operating according to schedules and routes that are less expensive than a single taxi and often more comfortable than other means of transportation. A number of operator and/or government agencies around the globe are now providing demand-driven common transportation for inhabitants in communities with low passenger numbers, which could help preserve the livelihood of local people.
