Boost your search for holidays with Google, offer hotels discount.

In the run-up to the US vacation period, Google has expanded its air travel and hotels search features and announced that it has begun to offer payers of Google One clothing store premium hotels rebates. Google's search for flights upgrade includes a new vacation-centric infographics utility that uses a statistically based historic fare calculation on 25 favorite U.S. airways to show whether fare levels are higher or lower than normal during Thanksgiving, December, and New Year's Day travel.

You can also use the infographics function to search for hotels and to display locations that have abnormally low rates during these vacations. In addition, Google has introduced three product-accompanying offers for its airline and hotels search engines, among them a Thanksgiving-based fare function for searching US fares. This Google Flights function, available on your phone, tells you whether the cost of a Thanksgiving ticket is higher or lower than normal, depending on when a customer buys and travels.

"Two of the most important stressful points that passengers have when making reservations are that they don't know what a good fare is, and if they have an imagination of a good fare, they don't know when to do it. That' always the case when you make travel bookings, but especially when you make holiday bookings," said Google senior executive Thijs van As during a New York news conference last weekend.

A second new in-product offering is aimed at travellers with some degree of scheduling agility and uses the Google Flights experience to differentiate fare for different locations that are well below averages. Available worldwide on both cell phones and desktops, this function focuses on tariffs that are at least 30% lower than traditional rates.

Google has also introduced a pricing system on the website of Google that will be available on cell phones worldwide. Travellers can use the function to keep an eye on room rates over the course of the day and see if a rate is lower or higher than normal. You can also check the rate of a particular room against other similar rooms during the same periods, and the function has a filter that allows for more personalized information.

"Three out of ten U.S. travellers want travel agents to provide information that' s customized to their preference or previous behavior," said Richard Holden, Google VP, Products Relations. "It' not just about giving them all the prizes and choices. It is a matter of analysing all these prizes and choices.

" With a view to the future, Google is also investigating how to enter the field of travel package deals, with Holden having a so-called "flights plus hotels product" underdeveloped. "It' s traditional for folks to think of parcels like airfare plus hospitality plus land transportation, excluding food, everything. We really only start with planes and hostels, and we can put in the other parts," he said.

"but we' ll show you more and show you more."
