SriLankan and Qantas extend code shares

Quantas and SriLankan Airlines have extended their code share arrangement to cover additional Australia and New Zealand to Sri Lanka itineraries. As part of the new agreements, the airline will be adding its QF airline code on Sri Lankan non-stop services between Colombo and Bangkok and between Colombo and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, SriLankan will be adding its UL airline code on Qantas powered services from Melbourne to Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney and from Melbourne to Auckland in New Zealand. In 2014, just after Sri Lanka became a member of the two members of the oneworld-Allianz, they signed a code share for the first one. Qantas then added his QF code to Sri Lanka's Colombo Singapore ministry.

On Emirates routes, this was in conjunction with an additional code share on Emirates-flyers. The current code share contract is still in place, allowing Qantas clients to use the airline's QF code to travel to Colombo via Bangkok, Hong Kong or Singapore. Sri Lanka launched non-stop services between Melbourne and Colombo at the end of October and returned to Australia for the first return since 2001.
