Taxi Vancouver Taxi Company Launches Over-Similar Reservation and Payments Application

Vancouver-based four taxi operators have teamed up to create a new smart-phone app that allows taxi drivers to book, purchase and monitor their cabs - similar to the Uber Ride-Sharing app. Since today, the eCab app in Vancouver is fully functional and allows smart phone customers to order a taxi that is nearest to them.

This app uses the combination of Yellow cab, Vancouver taxi, MacLure's Cabs and Black Top & Checker Cabs fleets to build a unified on-line scheduling system for over 600 cars in the town. eCab allows clients to view estimates of pick-up and drop-off hours, order a taxi for immediate delivery or pre-book a taxi, choose a pick-up location, give commentary to your clients, make a direct payment via the app (or either using credit cards or cash), keep an eye on their taxi on a chart in real time, and immediately evaluate their individual performance.

If the taxi is near the pick-up location, a warning is sent to the customer. Each of the four taxi operators has its own on-line or app-based reservation system, but none of them is fully embedded. Naturally, the new app is an apparently way to become more competitive and to fight Über's plans to introduce his carpooling in town.

A number of taxi operators have strongly opposed any proposal by Uber to enter the Vancouver brand because of the associated unlawful competitive practices, in so far as they lodged a collective complaint against the multi-national group last autumn. However, the suit was dismissed early this year when Uber deferred the introduction of his ministry.

Headquartered in Paris, the eCab app started its first downtown shopping experience in 2014 and has since extended to ten other major destinations in Europe, such as Amsterdam, Brussels and Dublin. Vancouver Services is the company's first Canada office and also plans to enter other 10 country expansions.
