Because of the operation mode of very lightweight aircraft, it must be assumed that there can be very little difference between a VLJ with a weight of 10,000 lbs or less and lighter company aircraft. VLJ will be less heavy than many beloved twin turbo-prop cabins, but will be able to operate near the top boundaries of civil aviation and be incorporated into the high-density American airport pattern.

Aeronautical control systems and owner-operators must recognise the fragility of these light and powerful aircraft. VLJ producers have begun to look at the unparalleled risk that exists for their product. Every suggestion for exercise made by the producer or seller must involve an appreciation of these issues and the intention to resolve them at all stages of the exercise itinerary.
