The 1951 constructed airfield was operated in the 1950' by Alaska Airlines, Northwest Orient, Pacific Northern Airlines and Reeve Aleutian Airways with Douglas DC-3 to Boeing 377[5] and was also a refuelling stop for the Canadian Pacific Air Lines Air Lines to the Far East (one of these planes was part of a 1951 disappearance).
