Homer's taxis coupon programme is financed by a subsidy from the Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT). The amount of this subsidy for this financial year was lower than in preceding years. This subsidy has enabled us to offer the "local" coupons for shorter cab journeys (up to 4 miles) and "Far Out" for longer journeys such as Anchor Point and McNeil Canyon.

There is a greater need for DOT coupons between a smaller subsidy this year and the lack of CARTS-certificates. Sadly, our delivery of the "local" coupons for this financial year expired on 8 December. This means that we will have to stop the sale of the "local" coupons, but we will still keep the " Far Out " coupons.

All drivers do not qualifiy for "Far Out" coupons. "The Far Out" coupons are only available to those living outside the city, such as East End Road, Anchor Point or Diamond Ridge. When we are able to find extra funds for "local" coupons, we will publish them here on our website.
