All US flights of the low-cost airlines in Europe are covered. One new type of low-cost airline in Europe has hit the US news by providing rock-bottom fare to Europe, sometimes for less than $70 per leg. Firstera and French Bee are younger low-cost airlines testing the US markets. It can be a challenging task for US clients looking for these airlines to know where they are flying.

In Norway alone, 53 flights are operated between the USA and Europe, which by its own account is more than any individual airline in Europe. There are many point-to-point services, but there are also links via major regional centres at London Gatwick, Oslo and Stockholm, among other places. The WOW operates only from the USA to its turnstile near Reykjavik, but provides links to more than 20 other major destinations in Europe after a stopover.

It now flies from Newark and Boston to Europe, with services to Washington Dulles starting in August. France Bee has just started operating services from San Francisco to Paris (and Tahiti), while another France carrier - XL Airways France - is known for offering regular low-cost transatlantic fare between the US and France.

Large airlines will sometimes introduce tariffs that compete with their budgetary counterparts, especially when taking into account the charges and intermittent timetables of some of these airlines. Many of the itineraries in this guide are either seasonally or functionally scheduled with less than day-to-day services. A number of lines are new, with the introduction of the Serviceplan scheduled to begin this year.
