In London, there are two kinds of taxis: black classic ones (also known as taxis) or personal rental cars, often termed miniabs. London's classic cab or Black Cab (although now available in a wide range of colours) is the most costly way to explore the city, but they are reasonably priced for uneven trips when more than 3 persons are traveling together. They are even less costly if you are in a group of 5 persons - as many as they can wear legit.

From Monday to Friday a two-mile trip should be between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. and should be priced at £9-£14.60. For more information, see the Transport for London (TfL) Taxi Tariff Guidelines. Black taxis are all measured - you are charged at the end of the trip. Taxidrivers accepted either money or credit/debit tickets and from 31 October 2016 there will be no additional charges for payment by car.

When you are in a crowded part of London city centre, just be standing on the road, hold your arms up, and a taxi with its backlit signs should stop. You can also book black taxis in advanced, but you will have to add a surcharge for the services. The cheapest option, especially for longer trips, is a registered personal rental car (Minicab).

Reservations must be made by telephone or by visiting the offices. Don't take a mini-cab from someone who comes near you on the road. It'?s against the law to do this and could be more expensive than a black cab. Use only a licenced mini cab for your own security.
