Reading Air Charter
Read the Air CharterOn Saturday, the charter airline opened an additional branch at Reading Regional Airport. In contrast to what the general opinion is, Reading regional airport is not blocked to air travel.
While it is a fact that the 2004 regular services were cancelled, a charter company is trying to resume them. Reading Air Charter presented its new headquarters at the Reading regional air base on Saturday. Due to the absence of terminals footprint and market strategies, a small percent of the deal came from Berks County.
However, that has been changing since Robert H. Kline, Chairman, and David H. Weidler, Senior Vice Chairman, launched an aggressive drive to form and recruit Berks County companies for charter airfare. "It'?s an on-demand trip," Weidler said. "Reading Air Charter was established in 2000 by Kline, who is also Chairman of Kline Process Systems and RMK Solar, both Wyomissing.
Kline, who is also a flight attendant, had a King Air twin-turbo prop aircraft which was used for the Kline Process Systems company outings. The company was founded there after he resolved to obtain Federal Aviation Administration approval to use it for other purposes. However, by 2011, according to Kline, 90 per cent of all charter planes came from outside the reading range.
At that time, Kline partnered with Weid-ler to build the company's trademark and promote it to business travellers in Berks County. In July, they contacted the airport authorities to set up an administrative building in the airport terminus. "Weidler said, "I knew that as the regional aerospace champions, we had to split our expected expansion and activities with the major one.
" It began working with the Greater Reading Economic Partnership and the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry to promote the charter airline notion. "Weidler said that our needs may be related to the needs of the area. Mr Kline said that companies can reduce the price of charter air travel. He said, for example, a one-hour six-passenger plane ride from Reading to Akron, Ohio, would save a corporation $550 per passenger, a return journey, and office hours, the expense of nights in hotels, and mealtimes.
Charter can also be chartered for recreational use. It is in the midst of purchasing its third King Air aircraft to cope with the increasing requirements. "Let's not get to a point where we can't satisfy people's needs," Weidler said. Weidler said as the firm grew, it hoped to be a catalytic for doing more at Reading Regional Airport.
"One of the ultimately long-term goals is to bring back to Reading business services," he said.
