Taxi in Barcelona: info, prices and availability

In Barcelona you can easily find a free taxi. Do not get into unmarked vehicles, they are necessarily unofficial. To get to Barcelona city center by taxi, it is easy: just follow the taxi sign, which is clearly visible on the posters. Would you rather book your taxi in advance?

This page offers a taxi transfer from Barcelona Airport at reasonable prices! Like everywhere else, the easiest way to get in a taxi is to call the first one that comes by. Be careful, however, the driver can only stop under two conditions: he is more than 50 metres away from a taxi stand and is not allowed to drive there.

Otherwise it wouldn't be fair if the drivers queued at the terminal! Taxi drivers may refuse to accept passengers who are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other substances or who may cause damage to the vehicle. Taxi drivers are free to decide whether to accept pets on board or not.

Accompanying dogs accompanied by their owner and wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility are always permitted. The taxi company offers special vehicles for people with reduced mobility (TPMR vehicles) or for groups. What does a taxi cost in Barcelona? In Barcelona, taxis are of course more expensive than the subway, but still relatively cheap.

The cost of the service is slightly less than 3 euros: the price depends on where and when you take the taxi. In the city, the fare is lower than for a trip outside Barcelona. Between 20.00 and 8.00 o'clock on weekdays and around the clock on weekends, shopping is more expensive.

An average trip to the city costs about 10 Euro. On a weekday the selected tariff must be T1. At night and on weekends the tariff applies according to tariff 2. Taxi fares are the same for all cabs as they are set by the city. They are usually displayed on a rear window.

Our advice: If you plan to take a taxi in town, make sure you have small denominations, as drivers usually don't have much change. Some additional costs are to be expected, especially for travel to the airport, but also to the harbour, as we state in our Arrival in Barcelona with a cruise ship in our articles.
