What does it cost to go around the world?

Some of the most common issues we are asked are how much it will cost to visit the world. That was also our greatest issue before we made the decision to make a big trip like this. It'?s a hell of a lot less than you probably think. Long distance trips, several month or longer, cost much less per person per night than what you would normally pay for a 10 days trip abroad.

Plenty of things affect how much you will be spending... what country you are visiting, what accommodation you are staying in, how often you move between towns, your means of transport, and how many trips and things to do. We will shed some light on the cost of traveling around the world and give you a rough idea of what to look forward to if you have one.

Spending a great deal of your free Time in developed markets (Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan) will cost you a great deal. People in Europe and Australia pay an annual $125 a week on a daily basis. Asia, Africa and South America are less expensive. Cities like Cambodia, India and Nepal allow you to pay up to $50 per capita per night and still enjoy a good meal and sleep in beautiful accommodation.

If you plan your trip to go to more places with a lower cost of living, you can keep your spending low. Nine of them were in Asia during our 13-month trip. They are at the cheapest end of the spectrum. These are all on the more costly end of the spectrum.

And we knew that in the near term it would be easier for us to return to Europe than to Asia, because we are far away from where we are at home. It is a good tool if you want to get essential everyday spending for each state. Just enter the name of the destination and you will receive an estimation of the mean cost of visiting that destination every day.

While this is only an estimation, it gives you an idea of how much you can afford to pay in each state. There will be a big influence on your household budgets from your means of transport. Airplanes are the most costly, while coaches are the cheapest. To keep your budgets really low, restrict your flight and fill the gap with coach and rail trips.

Coach trips are a very inexpensive way to get around, but they are also quite inexpensive and can be unbelievably disappointing. If you are travelling long distances, you have the luxuries of the times, so putting in a trip between Bangkok and Chiang Mai one single date can be a great way to save money over flying.

Actually we did a great deal of driving but save a great deal of cash because we didn't have to make any bookings for the four of us. In Asia we have reserved air travels for our longer hop trips and closed the gap with coach trips. Travelling between Laos and Cambodia, for example, would have cost a little less than a single ticket for two coach trips lasting more than 24hrs.

New Zealand we went from bottom to top in a single vehicle, our best ever Roadtrip. As you move to a new site more often, you are spending more cash. Whenever you move to a new place, you have to pay for transport, which will increase your day-to-day expenses. A lot of folks, when they are travelling for a year, jump from place to place about every one or two weeks.

And since there are no transport charges during this period, the cost is usually very low. Traveling more slowly reduces your day-to-day cost. We had higher bills because we used to move so often. It was a unique occasion and we wanted to see as much of the world as possible.

Accommodation can readily be one of the largest item tickets in your household as well. Savings here save a great deal of overall cash. On long distance journeys, most travellers live in two- or three-star accommodation, a hostel or a rented flat. Disadvantage is that you will share a master suite and a bath room with other humans.

In this way you can make even more savings by cooking your own meals when you live in these accommodation establishments. Obviously there are always exemptions from the rules, but accommodation is in the order from cheap to expensive: Regarding the scheduling of your trips it is simple to say that you will simply remain in a low budgeted, economic places 100% of the while.

Having been on the house for so long, these little extra items you get in a better place will really, really look beautiful. When you travel as a hostess, a hostel is usually not less expensive as it is charged per individual. There was much more happiness at B&B, cheap hotel and rental apartments.

A further way to keep your expenses low is to mix your transport expenses with your lodging expenses. Reserving night train and bus tickets is a good way to make savings. That kept the cost really low as we only had to buy one room. Some adjustments were needed to be together all the while, but it was one of the most important ways we could conserve our cash.

Such places were rare for us on our trip around the world. Eating is another point that quickly affects the travel budgets. When you really try to keep your cost down, minimise your restaurant and maximise your store visit.

The preparation of your own meal saves time. Daily going out becomes costly, even in cheap states. Booze, even a single glas of brandy, can begin to go overboard. To eat the dishes of the area is much less costly than to eat in a restaurant serving a West German meal. It' the funny part of travelling and yes, you have to have a big purse for it.

Entry costs for museas, guides, zippers, windsurfing courses, gigs and trips must be included in your budgets. Explore a town on your own and visit the free of charge local art galleries is one way to do your sight-seeing for the lowest price. Put in a little cash for the other sights.

As soon as you begin to add exciting things like dining trips or adventurous pursuits, your cost will really increase. You don't want to be trapped for doing nothing because it's gonna cost you cash. When you are planning a large ticketing event, such as a game drive in Africa, a trek in Nepal or an extensive trip lasting several days, set that amount aside to make it easy to keep track of your regular overhead.

Simply reconcile the cost of the business with your other spending. You can find cheap accommodation, prepare more of your own dishes, etc. A major reason why we slept in lower priced accommodation and took more busses is that we had the cash we could afford to pay for our outdoor time. Also, when we are spending cash on an extravagant exercise, we had to find less costly groceries for the next or second leg to make up for the differences.

There was also the feeling that we would get more out of the activity than better accommodation, which creates a permanent memory of our journeys. It turned out that some of our cheap accommodation and less expensive catering choices also produced enduring recollections. Inevitably, you will be spending cash on various expenses such as visa upon your return, gifts, linen, replacement of clothes you wear, purchase of new equipment and other unsettled property while traveling.

A lot of individuals recommend that between $1,000 and $2,000 be made available for use in these conditions. Unfortunately, there are more cost factors to consider: the up-front cost that you will pay before you board the first aircraft. This cost includes airfare, immunizations, pre-needed visa, equipment, travel insurances, medical insurances, home schooling material, etc.

So how much is it? Generally, you should reckon that it costs between $20,000 and $30,000 per capita to spend a year traveling around the world. We have made this approximate estimation by looking at the trip budget of other blogs, different trip scheduling sources, and our own experiences. Yes, you can totally for less than $20,000 per capita for a whole year.

A lot of guys did it and wrote about it. Or you could be spending more on luxuries and travelling for $40,000 to $50,000 or more per capita. Ultimately, if you are a single traveller, you should be able to tour the world for $25,000 for a year (that's slightly more than $2,000 per month, $66 per day)!!!
