He is an Harry ist Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) und Gold Seal Flight Instructor mit Instrument Instructor und Multi-Engine Instructor Rating. It is Harry's differentiation to be the only one ( out of about 84,000) who has ever received three Master's degrees from the National Association of Flight Instructors:

CFI Master, Master Ground Instructor and Master Aerobatic Instructor. More than 80 articles have been written by Harry in more than a dozen aviation journals, among them: Avionics Magazine and IFR Refresher. Mr. Harry currently works as a flight safety consultant for the Baltimore FSDO and as an EAA flight consultant for the Experimental Aircraft Association.

2nd Frederick Flight Instructor Killed in Virginia Crash " CBS Baltimore

FREDERICK, Md. Frederick Municipal Airport trainer kills a passenger in an accident. Bernie Charlemagne, the long-time flying teacher, passed away when his aircraft crashes during a Saturday evening practice mission. Detectives say flying coach Bernie Charlemagne passed away when the airplane went down on Saturday. He had a pupil who lived. They were on a practice mission that departed Frederick Municipal Airport to visit Martinsburg, West Virginia, Winchester, Virginia and was on its way to Hot Springs after the accident.

Charlemagne, who worked for the Frederick Center, was an experienced pilots with 30 years aviation time. "He was trained in planes, choppers and sailplanes and his résumé is quite full," said Kevin Jackson, Frederick Fellowship Center. At Frederick International Airports, Charlemagne is the second teacher to have died in an accident in the last three months.

Hecken says that the loss of two trainers was disastrous for the area. In spite of the casualties, civil servants say that the overall aviation mortality rates are the highest in five years.
