I' m very dissapointed with the Apple Superdrive. Knowing in advance that it was more costly than the competition, that it didn't have a strobe lamp or discharge key, that it only worked with Macbook Airs, and that its cable wasn't detachable, I decided to buy it. The cable is only 9 inch long.

The computer will no longer detect the diskette. This is a device I purchased to view DVD discs in my bedroom, and that's not possible if you balance the notebook and a seperate device 9 inch away. And now I realize that I can't even lengthen the cable. Well, if I could only give back the hardly used SuperDrive at the full cost.....

Does it pay to buy an Apple SuperDrive for your Apple?

When you have a CD you really want to bring to iTunes, or a disc you really want to see, you don't need to have SuperDrive plugged into your Mac to bring in the titles or view the disc. Navigate to System Preferences on the Mac with the optic diskette.

Now open a Finder pane on the Mac without an optional diskette. Use the control box on the far right to choose Remote Disc. By signing up for Apple Music, you might be able to enjoy the songs on your old CD's for free. Unless you have an old Mac with a DVD/CD remote disc player, there are many less expensive DVD/CD player choices that can work with your Mac.
