The Mihin Lanka was a low-fare recreational carrier located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. lt was in the possession of the Sri Lankan state. As part of a process of consolidating the two carriers, the codes were used jointly with their partners SriLankan Airways on several different flights. The Mihin Lanka carrier discontinued operation in October 2016 when SriLankan Airways restarted its flight plan on the previously Mihin Lanka route and took over the extra services.
Meanwhile, in December 2007, Mihin was compelled to stop the Airbus for India after the BH Air aircraft's owner in Bulgaria ordered their pilot not to operate the plane because Mihin had not paid his leasing rent. In the same months, SriLankan Airlines pulled out its groundhandling facility due to non-payment, and Mihin was compelled to return his plane by hand before take-off and to deploy his own personnel to check-in.
In February 2008, Mihin forfeited one of his planes, an A321, after its owner, Best Air, had taken it back for non-payment of the leasing contract. In April 2008 it was losing its other planes after its owner had taken them back for non-payment of the rent. After losing both planes, the airline was compelled to cease operation in April 2008.
In April 2008, it was made known that Gunawardena would step down as Chief Executive Officer but stay on the Executive Committee. 19 ][20] Gunawardena did not retire, but in June 2008 he was released and substituted by Anura Bandara. Since July 2015, Mihin Lanka has had code share arrangements with the following airline: Mihin Lanka Destinations.
