Approval of Pco vehicles

Every vehicle that can be rented with a driver requires a (PHV) private car rental license and the vehicle owner must apply for the driver's license. These signs do not replace the private rental car marking - the vehicles must continue to display both plates in addition to the new plates. Actual proof of policy that must include the vehicle for rent and charge. Insurances should only be issued by authorised chauffeurs. TÜV certification for all cars that are more than one year old on the day of submission of the request. Fees (current fees valid at the date of application). The mechanical test certification (from the designated workshop of the Council). Attestation of conformity for metered odometers (if the vehicle is equipped with a taximeter).

Before approval for the purposes of personal hire, all rolling stock must be visually inspected by an authorised representative. On the day of the first request for granting a personal rental, the vehicle should be less than five years old.

Before buying a future vehicle, it is recommended to contact a licensor. The vehicle must be registered by a licensor. When you buy a vehicle without contacting a licensed officer, you do so at your own expense. At least 1400 cm3 in motor capacity and three doorways open to paid passenger entering or leaving the vehicle.

Rolling stock must conform to European Community type-approval M1 for road transporters. Means any vehicle equipped with at least four wheels intended and built for the transport of persons which is type-approved in accordance with M1. Rolling stock that was initially classed as M1 type-approval compliant but has been modified or rebuilt since its initial production is deemed to be fit if it has the appropriate VOSA single vehicle IVA or SVA.

Every vehicle initially presented for registration and type-approved by the European Community N is deemed to be unsuitable for this use and cannot be registered as a personal vehicle. N type-approval is defined as any vehicle with at least four tyres intended and built for the transport of goods.

Any vehicle which does not meet the Council's licence requirements shall be submitted for decision to the Council's Subcommittee on Authorisation.

Obviously, it is up to each and every person to make sure that they are aware of all applicable legal requirements, as well as the applicable license terms. Personal Fire cars must be pre-booked through a licensed Personal Fire Operator and may not be rented or used at any Hackney Carriage stand at any point.

Rolling stock shall meet the Road Traffic Act 1988 and any other vehicle law or successive law, as well as the regulations and rules enacted in connection therewith. As a general rule, the term of the licence is 12 month from 1 November to 31 October, but the Council retains the right to grant a licence for a short time.

Each request for renewal of a license obtained after the expiration of the existing license will be considered as a new request.
