The taxi fare is not eligible with a Flexible Expenses for Dependent Care account (DCFSA) or a Flexible Expenses for Limited Care account (LCFSA). Transport expenses are expenses that an employer or self-employed person incurs when he or she leaves home in a company travelling state. The cost of transport is a component of the cost of travelling, which is all the cost associated with travelling on official business, such as taxi fares, petrol, parking, accommodation, food, gratuities and clean-up, dispatch and phone expenses arising from and recoverable by them.

The costs of carriage are lower insofar as they relate only to the use or maintenance of a vehicle used for commercial purpose or to carriage by train, aircraft, coach, taxi or other means of carriage for commercial use. Shuttle fares (travel from home to work) are not regarded as transport charges that can be deducted. Transport expenses may also cover the cost of travelling from home to a fixed-term job (in which case a claimant's territory is not restricted to his home country). If, for example, a traveller works in the same shop or at one or more normal places of work outside his or her place of residence (for example, a building worker), this is regarded as transport cost.
