Sri Lanka's outfit was an Airbus A330-300. The Business Class in a 1-2-1 fishbone arrangement (Note: The Sri Lankan A330-200s have a less generously sized C-class layout). At the touch of a switch, the chair could be transformed into a completely shallow double room. Eating was fine, but not of great value, with three typical appetizer and entrée choices, but only one wasteland.

Our crews were effective and polite, albeit a little smiling on the outer legs and much more friendly on the rear legs. Most of the time one of the Business Class cabins was out of operation. Essentially a respectable Business Class item with good sitting qualities, as well as food and drink, entertaining and non-uniform (but never bad) cabinservice.

London to Melbourne via Colombo, with a 12-hour stay in Colombo. The SriLankan Airlines provided a transiting Colombo hotels and free lunches and dinners at the airports.

Airplane and toilet tidy, the cabin attendants were courteous and kind. There was a good selection of drinks and meals, a great selection for the on-board fun. During the 12 hours stopover we could drive to Negombo to look around in the town and on the shore, and have some chill-out before the second trip and a nice hot water in the Transithotel.

As we tried to do our on-line check-in on the date of our trip, the reservation had mysteriously vanished. Apparently they hadn't approved us for the new trip because they "didn't know" that we had payed the charge (which was done on the ground during the rebooking). You tried to put us on the next day's plane, which we declined.

Eventually after many telephone conversations they confirm our reservation and from then on everything is fine.
