Cab rates
To support the grassroots taxi service evolution at grassroots level, the whole nation was identified as a unique taxi meter area in 2006. There is also a system of introducing a nationwide taxi tariff to make sure that tariffs are clear, foreseeable and do not confuse people. However, the design of the nationwide taxi tariff is coded into the taxi meter fitted in all taxi cabs and in wheelchairs.
These calculate the ticket price on the basis of: Duration of the trip and/or required travel duration (the initial fee is always charged and there may be extra fees on the basis of fares A and B). Initial charge is firm and will cover any range up to 500 meters or a span of up to 85 seconds.
Thereafter, the ticket price is charged on the basis of the route covered or if the vehicle is travelling at a lower than 21 kilometres per hour. In the following chart, the most important characteristics of the present maximal taxi tariff are summarized. In addition to the tariff charged according to time/distance and tariff, the following services may be charged additionally by the driver: Except for the tariff, which is charged by time/distance and tariff as described above, the rider can select whether to add a surcharge for the following:
For any other type of commitment than participating in a taxi stand (including an international taxi service at an international airports or other transportation hub or terminal) or calling on the road, a 2? reservation cost may apply. This includes making a reservation by phone, e-mail, phone application, facsimile, text or mail, or making a reservation by phone call or visiting a dispatcher's offices; additional taxi driver customers may incur a 1 Euro per person first.
With regard to supplementary pedestrian traffic, a minor is transported at no surcharge; the cost for two or three pedestrians under 12 years of age is ?1; for four or five pedestrians 2; and for six or seven pedestrians 3; Highway Charges - may be levied on charges set by a Public Transport Administration; Pollution - a fee may be levied if a pedestrian either pollutes the car or causes it to be so severely damaged that the driver must take it out of operation or must foot the bill for cleaning or repair.
Although the ?140 charge is the upper limit, the real charge may be lower - it should be a reflection of the cost reasonably borne by the operators. The surcharges are noted on the information sheet and on the label in the car. These are voluntary - the rider can decide whether to enforce them or not.
If, however, significant additional costs are to be expected, the chauffeur should inform the client in writing in advance. Fees for reservation and for additional travellers, if calculated, shall be entered on the taxi metre. No surcharge may be levied for the carriage of baggage or dogs assisting them. When the taxi is used by taking a person from a taxi stand or in reaction to being greeted on the road, if you consent to take the person with you, the rental begins and you are allowed to run the counter if you consent to take the person with you - for example, before helping the person with the baggage.
When the taxi is used On demand the rental begins when you present yourself to the client at the arranged date, and you are allowed to run the counter when you are at the arranged date (not earlier) at the arranged place. Every lateness at the beginning of the trip due to the passengers is charged on the counter as a time-based fee.
Likewise, each time a passenger is delayed during the trip - e.g. to accommodate extra people - is also counted at the counter.
