American Airlines. The Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Awards fail because of frequent fliers The Alaska Airlines frequent flyer programme, known as the Mileage Plan, is announced as one of the last surviving frequent flyer programmes that truly benefits people. It' the only frequent flyer programme in the United States that still gives members one award per kilometre used. Since every other large carrier has pursued low-cost airlines that result in passenger mileage being rewarded according to the price of the tickets, Alaska Airlines has remained faithful to the initial idea of loyal airlines.

However, although it is a worthwhile frequent flyer programme, the use of mileage is becoming more difficult from it. Historically, I have been complaining that Alaska Airlines does not fully appreciate the idea of traveling globally. The Alaska Airlines premium overview concentrates on premium itineraries to and from the United States. There are very few distinctions between areas outside the United States.

Though 90% of partners in Alaska are global airlines, it is almost impractical to get an accolade between two global hub companies. That means that trips with premiums between Europe and Asia or South America and Australia are heavily restricted or require repatriation to the United States. At Alaska Airlines, we have a short-sighted perspective on our travelling behaviour.

Private as well as corporate trips often require several stations, but Alaska does not consider this to be outside hub-to-hub trips from the United States. Attempt to fly the USA-Australia-New Zealand as an honor, with several stations in Australia before you arrive in New Zealand, one can not. Dallas Sydney Auckland okay, but Dallas Sydney Melbourne Auckland with stations in Sydney and Melbourn is not a legal distinction.

Alaska does not release an awards charter between New Zealand and Australia. Not expecting several stops, but I should be able to get USA-Australia first and Australia-New Zealand second. Qantas, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, LATAM are all flying between the two partners, but it is not possible to make an airfare between them with the Mileage Plan.

Alaska is calling Brazil with its Brazilian counterpart LAATAM, but only LAN, which has a small Brazilian footballprint, is a counterpart. After all, the shortage of bonus travel or mileage on the Lufthansa Traffic Management (TAM) part of Lufthansa is still a reason for the mileage plan. In 2012 LAN and Tami became LAATAM.

But although it is 2018, Alaska Airlines still works only with LAN. The Alaska Airlines does not form part of any air group. Alaska Airlines has established a partnership pipeline of airlines from all over the world without deviating from its policy of alliances. Alaska Airlines is the destination of seven out of fourteen Oneworld airlines.

Soon thereafter, AirFrance-KLM announced that it was planning to terminate its connections with Alaska Airlines. Over and above the Skyteam cutbacks, relationships between Alaska and the United States have seen a decrease in performance.

Collecting Alaska Airlines mileage on American Airlines home departures is almost unfeasible today. Since American Airline is releasing a restricted premium area, this relationship is almost pointless today. In order to be honest, Alaska Airlines has added three new partners during this period. The Finnair and Singapore Airlines are great complements, but Condor air service is really only a low costs airline and does not compensate for the losses of KLM or Air France.

It'?s the greatest friction I have with my mirage plot. STILL is not available for Alaska Airlines premiums for Finnair and Singapore Airlines. Members of your airline's fleet can collect points with both airlines, but cannot use them. In the meantime, both Singapore Airlines and Finnair frequent flyer can already spend Alaska Airlines award points!

Many airlines do this, but it seems to be a constant problem for Mileage Plan members to redeem frequent flyer miles using airline partners.

If you try to make a booking with American Airlines on January 11, 2018, the tickets will not be issued because they were not available. Not even a telephone call with the awards office solved the dilemma. Ultimately, this led me to be informed that American Airline, although reported as available, would not acknowledge this.
